My agent has a impossible time coding with gemini flash as the model
why?
not because flash isn’t smart or doesn’t have information on how to code, but because flash itself is optimized for speed, and then google has increased that push massivly inside the antigravity IDE
and i have no way to turn it down
that causes my agent to “JUST CODE! DONT’ THINK! DON’T FOLLOW BEST PRACTICES! DON’T REASON! IGNORE ALL SYNTAX ERRORS! JUST CODE CODE CODE CODE CODE CODE!!!”
which means i have to stop it every few lines, have it dump the noise, have it do something to calm back down, and then check it’s code
this is a worthless waste of time
Google development HAS to give us a way to turn off that push for speed that’s in the IDE itself and turn DOWN the push that’s trained into the model
if that doesn’t happen, there is going to continue to be a bleeding effect as more and more developers move away from antigravity to other platforms.
The cost to use anything other than flash is exorbitant and even large companies aren’t going to be willing to pay that too much longer, but small indie devs like me aren’t willing to pay that at all, so we get to code for a few hours every week till the quota for gemini high pro or the claude models reset.
