I’m based in Germany, working at a branding agency. Like many others, we’ve set up AI workflows for professional AI image generation in the fashion sector. Nanobana Pro was a game changer! It worked perfectly until last week (May 7th, 2026).
Since then, it has started losing quality in details and refuses to output photorealistic images the way it did before. No matter how you tweak your prompts, it only produces heavily stylized, AI-looking results lacking realistic skin, textures, and overall detail. This happens regardless of whether you’re using a previously AI-generated avatar, an uploaded image, or a prompt without a reference image. And yes, a VPN doesn’t help either.
I set up the workflow in Figma Weave, so it runs through the API to Google, I believe. But the same issue also occurs in the Gemini App (Pro subscription).
Why is this happening? Could it be related to the EU AI Act and the deepfake restrictions coming with it? Does anyone have a solution? We depend on this tool, as we’re in the middle of several client projects and I know other agencies are in the same situation.
Surprisingly, there seems to be nothing out there addressing this issue. Makes you wonder why.
I have the exact same problem. As a photographer, I work with live models as well as create photorealistic characters for stock sites. My work has completely stalled because the skin rendering quality has suddenly plummeted. Skin now looks like it’s covered with a mask or a plastic wrap — the natural structure and pores are totally gone. I’m really concerned, and I don’t know if or when this will be fixed. And honestly, I completely agree — how is it that no one seems to care about this?
