Google Gemini 3 Pro - preview in AI studio is commenting, rather than building

The same problem has returned. Always sending the code in the chat instead of changing it.

In addition, we have a tab that often consumes a lot of memory. It already consumed a lot of memory, but with the “clear chat” function unavailable, this has gotten much worse.

OK, I don’t have any problem when I reset the chat or go back to the dashboard & return - my two get out of jail cards. And I have been using it avidly for weeks now

Yea, that’s a big memory usage problem - return to the dashboard & come back in to reset the memory

There is no way to reset the chat, what are you talking about? Also your solution don’t do anything. Those might have been solutions before the latest update, where they removed the reset chat option?

I still have a Reset conversation icon at the top right of my chat window in AIStudio .
The three icons are - previous prompts - advanced setting - Reset conversation
Just trying to help??
I don’t seem to have the latest update which you say made this icon disappear?
I’m using Gemini 3 pro - maybe that is the diff?

I am frequently having the same problem. I find that if Isay something to the effect of “I have inspected the files that you mentioned and the changes listed above for my latest request have not been made. i.e. the files have not changed/been updated” then it will generate the code. Occasionally it generates the code from a request that it is earlier than the current one.

The issue has been resolved! 1. Download the project without resetting the chat history. 2. Create a new, blank project and upload the ZIP file from the project downloaded in step one. 3. Lo and behold, the reset button has returned!:smiling_face_with_horns:

I managed to solve it by sharing the app with my wife’s Google account, and everything I do on it also changes my account’s project. I see that the situation is simply an accumulation of conversations in the chat itself.

same issue i cant see the delete icon, have you found a solution?

yes, it sometimes indeed generates code directly in the chat. And then I say, great, can you build this into the project? It usually works (since yesterday).

Hi @Marco_van_Hout

I have been working on my app in Google Studio today, and have seen some improvements with the Code assistant.

It seems that the Code assistant is suggesting fixes and making them. However, I am getting a lot of ‘Auto-fix’ responses once the changes have been made to the files.

Sometimes the ‘Auto-fix’ resolves the issue, sometimes I just see ‘Auto-fix’ again and click that.

Since today I have also seen the Code assistant tell me that it will adjust the temperature of the particular model, or it is switching between Gemini models to perform tasks that do not require as much thinking ability.

I haven’t seen the adjusting temperature comments before today, so I’m wondering if this is something that Google has introduced since yesterday to help with the erratic behaviour we have been experiencing over the past week or so?

this issue has been happening for weeks for me. its extremely frustrating when you have to ask 6+ times for it to do something

I have the solution: Clear recent chats and write the prompt again.

It works all the time

Hi @Marco_van_Hout,

Try resetting the conversation on the Code Assistant and the type the Prompt, i believe that should fix the issue. Let me know if it works though.

Right! I’m so frustrated

Even if this were a useful fix, it still occurs within a few responses later. For myself, it happens every few prompts I submit. I started experiencing this issue from the first half hour of using the tool. That is extremely poor performance for so little time using it.

Hi @Marco_van_Hout ,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We truly appreciate you flagging this issue, we will file a bug internally.

this works for me as well - nothing else did
