Google AI Studio Publishing Error: “User Has Exceeded Quota” Despite Available Cloud Run Quota

Subject: AI Studio Republish Fails Repeatedly — “user has exceeded quota”

Hello Google AI Studio Team,

I cannot republish my existing WBMP application from Google AI Studio.

Error:
“Failed to update Cloud Run service: user has exceeded quota. Please try again later.”

Details:

  • Cloud Run service: send-a-sms
  • Region: asia-southeast1
  • Public URL: send-a-sms.ai.studio
  • Existing latest revision: send-a-sms-00011-v6x

I checked the Cloud Run quotas. The displayed usage is:

  • CPU: 16.67%
  • Memory: 21.43%
  • Services per region: 50%
  • Active revisions per region: 25%

The existing application preview works, but every AI Studio deployment attempt fails with the same quota error, including after waiting 30 minutes.

Please investigate the AI Studio publishing pipeline and identify the exact quota or deployment operation blocking updates. I want to preserve my existing Cloud Run service, application URL, source code, and database.

Thank you.

Hi @Jimmy_Hardy,
Thank you for reporting this. We are looking into this issue. Could you share your Project ID, Applet ID, and the approximate timestamp of the failed deployment via direct message, and let us know if you have published multiple apps before and how many?

Same issue here. Republishing an existing app fails with
“Failed to update Cloud Run service: user has exceeded quota. Please try again later.”

  • App: prisma-solar-hub (published at prisma-solar-hub-1.ai.studio)
  • First failure: Oct 21, 2026 ~15:00 (UTC-3); still failing Oct 22, 2026 08:20 (UTC-3)
  • One attempt on Oct 21 stayed on “Publishing your app” for 15+ minutes, then failed
  • I had not published anything else that day; only a few publishes in the previous days
  • The current revision is still serving fine; only updates fail
  • The Cloud Run API is not enabled in my own GCP project, so I cannot clean up revisions myself

Happy to share the Project ID / Applet ID privately. Thanks!

Update: it got worse. Since Oct 22 ~19:00 (UTC-3) the already-published app itself
returns “Error: Server Error - The server encountered an error and could not complete
your request. Please try again in 30 seconds.” (HTTP 500 page from Google),
and the AI Studio preview stays stuck on “Loading your app”.

The same code builds and starts fine locally, so this looks like the Cloud Run
quota/service problem on the AI Studio side, not the app code.
This is a production app used by my company every day. Could someone from the team
take a look? Happy to share the Project ID / Applet ID privately.

Hi @prisma_solareltda, D’m you for more details.

Hi @Payal_Sharma2 . Is Google really aware of this quota limit bug/issue affecting many users. The response from Google seems to be very slow. We are paying customers and our technical issues should be investigated and resolved and or updated within normal SLAs.

Hi @prisma_solareltda, Thank you for sharing these details. We are looking into this issue.

Hi @Hassan_Mbatch, To help us investigate this issue, could you please share your Google Cloud Project ID, Applet ID, and the approximate timestamp of the failed deployment via direct message, and let us know if you have published multiple apps before and how many?

Hi Payal, publishing worked today (Oct 27, around 10:10 UTC-3). Thanks for the help! I’ll let you know if the error comes back.

Hi @Payal_Sharma2, I still cannot publish an update to my existing AI Studio app. The error is: “Failed to update Cloud Run service: user has exceeded quota.”

I saw today’s report that publishing started working again for another user, but my app is still affected. Could you include my case in the investigation and tell me how to send the Project ID, Applet ID and failed-attempt timestamp privately?

I want to preserve the existing production service and its URL.

An update to my earlier quota report: Republish now fails with this specific error:

“Failed to update Cloud Run service, your app’s production build is larger than the 250 MB publishing limit.”

We replaced googleapis with the smaller @googleapis/drive package and verified the replacement in AI Studio’s installed dependencies. One Republish still failed. The existing production revision remains active.

What exactly counts toward 250 MB: compressed upload size or uncompressed files, which dependencies, and are public/ files copied into dist/ counted twice?

Is there a supported way in AI Studio to exclude development/build files or select a production-only artifact while preserving the existing service and URL? Can we inspect the actual publishing manifest and size before another attempt?

We want to retain our media and required video/audio processing tools, rather than delete runtime files without knowing the counting rule. Thanks.

Can the 250 MB publishing limit be increased for an existing AI Studio app, or is there a supported exception process?
