Google AI Studio Build Agent is failing in my original project

Google AI Studio Build Agent is failing in my original project with:

“Your message exceeded the maximum number of tokens allowed.”

This occurs even with a one-line prompt:

“Do not modify anything. Reply only:
ORIGINAL PROJECT AGENT TEST OK”

The same project worked normally before this issue began.

I have waited several days and the problem persists.

Original Applet ID:
a95d81ff-f6cb-41df-a5b0-d1cd4a4bd72c

Project:
Aeroplane Ludo Game Engine

Subscription:
Free

Please investigate whether the original Applet’s Build Agent/context/workspace state is corrupted or incorrectly enforcing a token limit.

I do NOT want to recreate or Remix the project because the original project contains my complete development history.

Please provide a recovery path for the original Applet.

Hello @thisisrk94,

Thank you for providing the screenshot and Applet ID.

This error occurs when a project’s accumulated chat and iteration history grows beyond the maximum input token capacity allowed for a single request. Because the Build Agent includes prior conversation turns and tool actions to maintain continuity, submitting a new prompt—even a single line—evaluates the entire history and exceeds the input limit.

You can try clearing the conversation overhead directly in your original project while keeping all your work intact:

  1. Open your original Aeroplane Ludo Game Engine project in Google AI Studio.
  2. In the chat panel on the left, click “Start new chat”.
  3. Send your prompt in the new chat thread.

Hello, I have the same issue. Unfortunately, the new chat tip didn’t work.
It’s been locked for three days now.

Hello @MMJ ,

Looking at your screenshot, it looks like you are pasting a large CLI transcript (Paste September 18...) combined with large files in your project’s File Explorer (bun.lock, assets/, and src/data/), this might be causing the issue.
