Is it just me or is the batching API slow lately? It doesn’t quite expire but we’re talking like 12 hours+. I’ve seen it over the last 2 weeks at like 30 minutes at most.
I’ve had the same issue for maybe the last 3-4 days now. Previously it might take 1-4 hours, I’ve got 5 jobs running now for between 12-18 hours and still PENDING….not even running yet.
I could easily leave jobs running at night and by morning have results to work. Now I’m stuck between a rock and hard place, I get rate-limited if I send all the requests individually and now batching is taking too long.
I have noticed this problem and tried to bring it up to people on X like Logan to no avail. I think it’s ridiculous that the batch api keeps surpassing their 24h SLA. I have had batches running only after 36 hours. It’s annoying as I have built massive infrastructure around Gemini/Google’s ability to deliver and OpenAI is delivering better SLAs on batch processing.
The past week has been the worst so far with many failures
tried something to day - dropped batch size from 500 requests to 200 requests per job. Was stuck at SUBMITTED for 30+ hours with 500. Switched to 200 and jobs complete in under 2 hours. Same total volume, just more smaller jobs. might be worth a try
I was just about to try that. Thanks. Hopefully, the turn around time will be faster with fewer jobs. It could also be that the processing times are just inconsistent. I had submitted a job that I had to cancel after 28 hours, resubmitted the exaxct same batch and it started processing in 2 hours.
I’m experiencing the same issue.
The Gemini Batch API is taking significantly longer than usual. Jobs that normally complete quickly are now taking a very long time. The model I used is Gemini-2.5-Pro.
In some cases, the job remains in a “pending” state for an extended period and does not move forward.
This behavior started recently, and nothing has changed on my side in terms of implementation or request size.
Is there an ongoing issue or known delay with the Batch API infrastructure?
Would appreciate any clarification. Thanks.
Same issues here, none of the batches are ever finishing now….
