I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the current performance of the Gemini Flash3 model, specifically regarding their application in software development. While marketed for speed, the model’s actual utility is severely compromised by several regressive behaviors:

Aggressive Code Elision and Truncation: The model frequently ‘destroys’ working code by eliminating essential functions and logic. Rather than providing a complete fix, it aggressively shortens the output to the point of absurdity. A 1,000-line script is often reduced to 50 lines of unusable snippets, forcing the user to manually stitch code back together.

Failure in Logical Depth: The model appears unable to maintain context for more than 1–3 logic steps at a time. This results in a ‘one step forward, two steps back’ loop where fixing one bug introduces several others that were previously solved.

Operational Inefficiency: Using a ‘Flash’ model often requires 10+ queries to achieve what a ‘Pro’ model accomplishes in one.This negates any claimed productivity gains and turns the development process into a time-sink of constant correction.

Re-evaluating Environmental Impact: While smaller models are marketed as more efficient per-inference, their failure to produce correct results creates a ‘cumulative waste’ problem. If a model requires ten times the queries to reach a viable solution, its net energy consumption and environmental footprint are actually higher than a single, high-intelligence query to a Pro model.
Recommendation:
Google should reconsider the promotion of the Flash model as a tool for complex coding tasks. In its current state, it provides a net-negative experience for developers. I suggest implementing a more robust ‘Complete Code’ mode or disabling these ‘lazy’ elision patterns entirely, as they currently render the model unusable for professional development.
