Gemini 2.5 Flash Image only downloads low-resolution images

Hello, I am testing Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (Nano Banana) and while the model edits images very well, the downloaded files are always very low resolution (for example 832x1248), even when my original image is much larger (3808x5712).
I am a Google One subscriber and I always use the official “Download” button, but the result is still a small JPEG file (in kilobytes).

I’ve seen other users and demo videos showing high-quality images with impressive zoom. Could you please clarify:

  • Is there any official way to download images in HD or keep the original resolution?
  • Is this a current limitation of Gemini 2.5 Flash Image?
  • Are there any plans to support high-resolution output in the future?

As of now the model can generate only images with a max size (1024x1024)px as per the documents.

Do we have any thoughts on when the size options will be more? Building something awesome but need it to be more flexible for sizes.

welcome to the community, as of now we don’t have an ETA on this.

as of now, your best option will be use the smaller image and build an upscaling pipeline for it.

it may be a good idea to let Gemini know this as it kept trying to generate hi res images for me and thus wasted a good half an hour or more befre deciding it cant. then I searched and found this…
