Ctrl+F Search broken for long chats due to Lazy Loading/Virtual Scrolling

Hi team & community,

A quick feedback point regarding long conversations: The lazy loading/virtual scrolling significantly hinders using Ctrl+F to find older information. It forces users into time-consuming manual scrolling and visually scanning the text to locate earlier parts of the chat. The workaround of copy-pasting to external editors isn’t ideal for productivity either.

While understanding the need for performance optimization, could we explore ways to enable effective full-conversation search within AI Studio? An integrated search feature that works alongside lazy loading would be incredibly valuable for reviewing extensive dialogues.

Thanks!

Hi @Saropa , Welcome to the forum.

I appreciate your feedback. I’ll bring this up with the team to see what might be possible in terms of improving the experience, particularly around search functionality.

Thanks!

Is there any feedback regarding improving the experience of search (functionality)?
As far as I’m aware of, the ctrl+f is still not working.

Hey @Olivier , The eng team removed some UI elements to improve performance, which is why Ctrl+F no longer works as expected. We appreciate the feedback and are looking into better search solutions.

@GUNAND_MAYANGLAMBAM Still struggling with this issue. I was enjoying using Google AI Studio a lot, but now I feel like I don’t have access to my own information because it’s not searchable. I literally cannot find some important information after 10 minutes of scrolling right now. It makes me consider quitting it because it’s counterproductive in the long-term :frowning:

I am experiencing the same issue. For several months, I have been unable to accomplish this. It appears to be a “reverse feature,” as if something were deliberately implemented to prevent it, haha.

A workaround for me has been to install the Multi Find: Search and Highlight extension. See download link on [Chrome/Edge] or [Firefox]. It functions adequately, but for very lengthy conversations, the extension seems to bog down considerably. Nevertheless, I hope this proves useful to someone.
