Critical Installation Bug – “DeleteFile failed; code 5. Access is denied” while updating d3dcompiler_47.dll

Hi Google Dev Team,

I found a recurring installation/update issue related to the Antigravity application on Windows. During installation, the setup fails while attempting to replace the file:

C:\Users\Windows 11\AppData\Local\Programs\Antigravity\d3dcompiler_47.dll

Error Message

An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file:
DeleteFile failed; code 5.
Access is denied.

Environment

  • OS: Windows 11

  • Installation Type: Update / Reinstall

  • File affected: d3dcompiler_47.dll

Expected Behavior

The installer should replace or update the DLL file successfully without permission errors.

Actual Behavior

Installation stops because the installer cannot delete or overwrite the existing DLL file.

Same issue!

Found the solution?

same issue!

I also faced the same issue while updating Antigravity today.
Its not only that single file, it asks for replacing multiple files one after other.

So, the solution would be to either delete the files one by one and allow installation to add new files. I kept the old files with “_bkup” suffix, just in case anything gets messed up.

Folder location: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Programs\Antigravity

The files it showed error for are:

Its working fine for now. Will update if I face any issues.

I had the same problem, so I cancelled it. I downloaded the IDE version from the Antigravity website edgedl.me.gvt1.com/edgedl/release2/j0qc3/antigravity/stable/2.0.1-4861014005645312/windows-x64/Antigravity%20IDE and now I have an IDE that looks like a makeshift solution for vibe coders.

Just unistall Antigravity, it will wipes IDE too. Then install IDE. It is still in alpha

What is this?? It’s happening to me in two different machines! It happens after briefly showing the screen next to the “choose your theme” one, then turning black, then this same error dialog! How can Google release such a product in such state? How can an extremely major change to a tool, splitting it in two different tools totally different to what we were using, be applied without previous warning, no confirmation, nothing but installing automatically??
