Concern About App Testing in Google Developer Challenge

Hi guys!

I recently participated in the Google Developer Challenge and developed a more or less complete MVP with user management functionality.

I provided test credentials specifically for the judges, but monitoring showed these were never used - meaning my actual application wasn’t evaluated.

While I understand managing numerous submissions is challenging, this raises a question: shouldn’t a “developer challenge” focus more on assessing code and functionality rather than just video presentations?

I share this feedback constructively, hoping it might help improve future iterations of this valuable program.

What are your thoughts on ensuring thorough technical assessment in developer challenges?

I agree 100%. However, due to the high number of entries, the judges needed a way to filter out the ones that obviously had no chance in hell of winning anything and a video showing the app in action is as good a way as any.
