Hi everyone,
I am looking for some clarification regarding the upcoming retirement of the “AI Ultra Access” add-on in Google Workspace, scheduled for July 7th, 2026.
Our organization currently relies on AI Ultra Access to use developer-focused tools like Google Antigravity, Gemini Code Assist, and the Gemini CLI. We understand that Google will automatically transition these licenses to the “AI Expanded Access” plan, but the documentation states that these specific developer tools will not be included in the new Expanded plan.
We are trying to understand the correct path to maintain our current level of advanced AI capabilities. I have a couple of specific questions:
-
Google Workspace vs. Google Cloud (GCP): To be completely honest, I have absolutely no idea what Google Cloud is or how it works. What is the practical difference between managing advanced AI developer tools directly inside our existing Google Workspace account versus having to set up a dedicated Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure?
-
Path to Maintain Developer Tools: To keep the exact same level of advanced assistance and automated workflows we currently have with Antigravity, what is the recommended step? Does our IT administrator need to purchase a different specific add-on within Workspace, or do these developer features now require a shift to a Google Cloud environment?
Any guidance on how to handle this transition smoothly without losing access to these tools would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help!
I have the same problem in that I am currently on AI ultra and I have received an email from google saying AI ultra will be cancelled for me and I have no idea how to continue having access to antigravity after my AI ultra plan is cancelled because the recommended AI expanded access plan has no access to anti gravity and the other recommended plan is for Workspace Enterprise?
I share the same issue, as the above two users. I want to maintain access to Antigravity, because I have grown accustomed to using it.
I think the answer is to upgrade Workspace to Enterprise Plus, but it’s just not clear in the product comparisons: Antigravity, is not mentioned in these.
I have requested input from Google sales and will update this thread when I get it.
I think I can help you with 1., Cristian.
Think of Google Workspace is a set of tools. GCP is a set of cloud resources used by the systems that you develop.
Hello Cristian,
Sort of. I cancelled the AI Ultraplan, as this was not going to feature Antigravity. I then linked AG to Google Cloud, so it’s making calls through a billed Gemini API there. In my view, it’s important to avoid free versions of the Gemini API, as this could lead to privacy issues for clients. When I ask AG about billing, it assures me that the tool is free of charge. Up until the change away from AI Ultra, you simply had to have a package that would give you access to it.
I still find the process of configuring AG confusing and I am not 100% sure that I have it correctly configured. However, I do think that I am paying much less for this excellent tool than I was when I had to have the Ultra subscription!
Let me know if you have further insights.
