This might be silly, but I have this habit of checking for updates in Antigravity before I start working. However, this morning I wanted to do that, and the “Check for Updates” option is gone from the help menu. My question is, is this by design or a bug?
Im having the same issue, though it was only me. Already reinstalled, deleted config files and nothing.
Same here. It’s kind of a morning ritual for me to check for updates on my apps, and having it vanish feels…weird. I understand it will auto-check, but it’s messing a bit with my routine ![]()
The IDE is literally out of date and isn’t auto detecting the update that is available, as if there is no basic 101 manual check for updates implemented ? ………………..
Hi @Marc_Newton,
Welcome to the Forum,
Are you unable to see the restart to upgrade notification on the top-right corner of the interface? as shown image below

How to Upgrade Antigravity Manually
-
Locate the Menu:
-
On macOS: Click on the Antigravity name in the top-left corner of your screen (next to the Apple icon).
-
On Windows/Linux: Click on the Help menu in the top navigation bar of the IDE.
-
-
Open the “About” Section: Select About Antigravity from the dropdown menu.
-
Trigger the Update: You will see a window or dropdown like the one in your image. Click the blue Check for Updates… button.
-
Install & Restart: If version v1.18.3 is available, the IDE will begin downloading the update. Once finished, click Restart to Update to apply the changes.
Just download the newest install from Google Antigravity and install it without uninstalling previous one. It will overwrite your last version. Also, there will be no missing previous chat or something like that.
For all previous updates, that blue update button appeared in top right, for this recent update needed to use 3.1 model it failed to appeared.
The help section was the first place i checked since every program that has self update has a check for updates in the about page or help menu, there was no such facility on that about screen.
I had to manually download full installer and install over top of existing installation to acquire the latest update.
It is a bug by design. ![]()
I have the same issue.
I am trying to update the system for the new model,
but I can’t do it, because there is no option.
The new model is requesting an update to the system.
And because of that, we come to the point of “I eat because I’m unhappy, and I’m unhappy because I eat."
While i have done this naturally on my home computer, i have the same issue with my work computer where I cant simply do that in the realm of corporate security compliance, only allowing updates from a trusted application is allowed at the very least in many cases and true for my current work environment, then in extreme cases not even self update is allowed but application updates only pushable to systems by IT administrators so you would be … in those companies anyway.
Besides, i came here to report an issue of not recieving update notifications for this release, being aware and fully expectant of the self update facility to reliably function wich is the issue to be solved, not for help with how to obviously update it otherwise, this suggestion is just a quick fix work around, it doesn’t address issue directly reported but thanks anyway the suggestion is appreciated.
Had it not been for the new model appearing and then reporting version incompatibility i would not have known about the update for some time until becoming suspicious that i not noticed any update prompts for a long while, prompting my self to eventually manually check one way or another wich brings us to the second issue of not actually having a CTA in the app to actually do that wich is present in every other piece of software i currently use.
Having the same issue here. The About modal has no update option.
i think it’s another timeline split
I also face the same issue: “Gemini 3.1 Pro is not available on this version. Please upgrade to the latest version.” Any solution at sight?
this is why I came here
Those 3.1 models introduced, but I can’t use them. I get an error message: “Gemini 3.1 Pro is not available on this version. Please upgrade to the latest version.” but here is what
I can’t upgrade to the latest version ![]()

Hey All,
If you are using Antigravity (v1.16.5 or v1.18.3) on Windows and the auto-updater fails to detect the latest updates, please perform a manual installation of Antigravity version 1.18.4 from Google Antigravity. This update fixes the auto-updater to ensure you receive future updates automatically.
Thank you for your patience!
We obviously know we can update it manually, but it just straight-up inconveniences and disrupts work time
Hi there.
Should we perform this installation directly, or as a clean installation? I recall there was no such choice during the installation (like options for a clean install or regular install). Because someone mentioned that uninstalling the previous version affected the data in current projects. That’s actually why I’m asking this question.
Has anyone tried deleting and reinstalling the most up-to-date version?
I had version 1.16.5 installed. The update function in this release is totally broken. There is no method in the UI to update the tool. And the tool itself completely fails to check for updates.
On my Windows system I used winget to see what was the latest version available to download.
❯ winget list antigravity
Name Id Version Available Source
Antigravity (User) Google.Antigravity 1.16.5 1.19.6 winget
After installed version 1.19.6, the UI option to check for updates is now back. It is at the usual place. Under the “Help” menu.
