Cannot edit prompts in Google AI Studio since two or three days ago

I’m starting to get desperate. Since two or three days ago, I can’t edit prompts in Google AI Studio anymore. Like there is no edit pen icon anymore and no three vertical dots at the top right of prompts that you could usually click on to edit a prompt.

My device is a Fujitsu LifeBook T937 with Windows 11.

Other users don’t seem to have this issue. Someone logged in on my Google account on another laptop and can still edit prompts.

I tried different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Microsoft Edge) and the issue persists on all, even when I remove all extensions and add-ons, and clear cache and cookies. I also logged in with another Google account, and the issue still happens. And I also created another local account on my laptop and there is still neither the edit pen icon nor the three vertical dots.

When I go to Windows Update > Update History, the only recent update is from “Security intelligence updates for Microsoft Defender Antivirus”, which is done every day. I don’t see how it would be part of the issue, and even if it was, I temporarily disabled Windows Defender in the settings and went to Google AI Studio, but I still cannot edit prompts and there is no pen or three dots at the top right of prompts.

I had no other recent update in the past few days. The latest non-Windows Defender update was done on December 2nd, so ten days ago. If it’s worth mentioning, the name of this particular update was: “Realtek - Net - 1153.16.20.829”. But the issue only started happening about two or three days ago, so I don’t see how it would be related.

Do you have any idea what the issue could be? Thank you so much for your help

Ran into the same problem unfortunately. Tried all your methods and they did not work. Very frustrating indeed! Have you solved this problem?

Good morning my name is Clintin play let me know if your issue has been resolved or not so that I could quickly assist

I’m having the exact same issue for the past few days, and nothing seems to solve it. It’s incredibly frustrating and essentially makes AI Studio unusable. I don’t get the button to edit, regenerate, or anything else.

I’ve tried different browsers, clearing cache and cookies, disabling extensions, and even using a different device. I also tried logging in with different Google accounts, but the problem persists across all of them.

If anyone has found a fix or has any idea what’s going on, I’d really appreciate the help!

Hi! Just an update on my problem, which was same to yours. I tried using my tablet pen as a mouse cursor and the buttons show up again. I wonder if this could be related to other input devices? I tried disconnecting the tablet but it did not help.

My computer is a yoga pro 16s. It also has a touch screen that can trigger editing. But mouse clicks don’t work.

I have new information to add.

I’ve confirmed that my Chrome version is up to date: Version 133.0.6943.54 (Official Build) (64-bit), and this current build is indeed affected by the issue.

However, I’ve also confirmed that the Android mobile version of Chrome is NOT affected—it works properly in both desktop mode and native mobile mode. Additionally, I’ve checked the developer tools console on Windows 11 Chrome and found no obvious errors, and switching to mobile mode in dev tools on the desktop Chrome application also does NOT work.

Given how widespread this issue seems to be—and how it essentially forces us to zero-shot all prompts and create new threads just to compare and switch models—why hasn’t there been an official response from Google or even an acknowledgment of the problem?
