Bug ticket: Antigravity chat history not loading (data exists locally)

  • Type: Bug

  • Priority: High

  • Area: Chat → History

Summary
Chat History is missing in the Antigravity UI, but conversation data exists under \.gemini\antigravity\brain...

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Antigravity IDE.

  2. Go to Chat History → conversations are missing.

  3. Check \.gemini\antigravity\brain → conversation files/folders are present.

Actual
History UI doesn’t load/show existing local conversations.

Expected
History UI should load/index conversations from \.gemini\antigravity\brain (or show a clear error + recovery option like “rebuild index”).

Impact
Users can’t access prior conversations

I’ve been using Antigravity daily for almost two months now and I’m seeing this same issue, see the screenshot

Clearly I have chats from today, yesterday, and they are not showing up in the UI - you will see the UI showing me Chats from 17d and 19d ago - that is a real pain as I’m having to craft my own session handoff documents.

I just updated to:

Antigravity Version: 1.18.4
VSCode OSS Version: 1.107.0
Commit: c19fdcaaf941f1ddd45860bfe2449ac40a3164c2
Date: 2026-02-20T22:30:09.460Z (9 hrs ago)
Electron: 39.2.3
Chromium: 142.0.7444.175
Node.js: 22.21.1
V8: 14.2.231.21-electron.0
OS: Darwin arm64 25.2.0

And the history issue is still persisting - this is actually quite frustrating

same issue for me too - super annoying

so they do a release, and this simple issue is still not resolved? :man_facepalming:

posted on another thread. Found another fix on v 1.18.x. Seems like 1.18 has bug with workspace.

If you open project as a folder instead of workspace - past conversations history seems to be available. Don’t use vscode workspaces (for now)

If you open the Agent Manager, you should be able to access your workspace history as well

!

Same issue. What worries me taht I dont see any feedback from google. This is clearly a big issue.

Thank you for bringing the issue with chat history loading to our attention. Our engineering team is currently investigating the matter, and we appreciate your patience as we work toward a resolution.

This is still happening - I have to ask the system to go into the antigravity brain and find the most recent chat or find the chat history manually - this is a really rough UI situation - the history is there - it’s just not showing in the UI. We try to avoid context rot but this makes it hard to go back to old chats to pull context forward.

It’s almost useless without the chats history.

Same isssue, please fix.

Can not close computer and Antigravity to protect my correspondence. Pls, fix.

Same issue here on macOS (March 2026).

I did a thorough investigation and can confirm: all data is intact on disk, the UI just fails to load it.

Findings:

  • 16 conversation .pb files intact in ~/.gemini/antigravity/conversations/ (totaling ~88MB)
  • 17 annotation .pbtxt metadata files present in ~/.gemini/antigravity/annotations/
  • 45 implicit context files in ~/.gemini/antigravity/implicit/ also intact
  • After restart, only a subset appears in the sidebar

This is clearly a UI-level loading bug, not a data deletion issue. The conversation data survives restarts but Antigravity’s sidebar fails to enumerate/display all available .pb files.

Hope this additional data helps prioritize a fix.

Same here.
This software is just broken. Agent conversations are not working either.
Arch Linux, latest AUR version.

I’ve managed to make it work to run Antigravity as Administrator
