I’ve also done
[Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable(“HOME”, “C:\Users$($env:USERNAME)”, “User”)

and on doing [Environment]::GetEnvironmentVariable(“HOME”, “User”) it did paste a proper response.
restarted the system and tried opening again still it’s not opening.

I am also facing the issue of black screen on startup.
What drives me crazy is the fact that company dosent provide support for paid product? They provide no solution, they dont even reply. Absolute silence.

I closed AVG for a second or 2 …then started Antigravity.

It worked!

Edit: Turning AVG back on, makes Antigravity say it does not see projects?!

Hey everyone, I found a working solution for this issue!

The black screen occurs because the main Electron window rejects the connection to the local server (language_server.exe) due to the self-signed SSL certificate (ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID).

To fix this immediately, you need to force Electron to ignore these certificate errors:

Solution:

  1. Right-click on your Antigravity desktop shortcut and select Properties.

  2. In the Target field, go to the very end of the path (outside the quotation marks), add a space, and paste this flag: --ignore-certificate-errors

  3. Your Target field should look something like this: "C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Programs\Antigravity\Antigravity.exe" --ignore-certificate-errors

  4. Click Apply and launch the app using this shortcut.

The app should load the UI properly right away. Keep this flag active until Google releases a hotfix (v2.0.7+) that resolves the local storage bridge initialization. Hope this helps!

This didn’t work for me. The problem I was facing was not because of Anti virus.
What I did was in the Target field I added flag: –no-sandbox as in "C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Programs\Antigravity\Antigravity.exe" –no-sandbox this worked for me.

The black screen came back the same evening…

After some deeper investigation I found a couple of additional issues:

Add --allow-insecure-localhost as well — the local server uses a dynamic port that changes on every launch, so combining both flags is more reliable:

“…\Antigravity.exe” --ignore-certificate-errors --allow-insecure-localhost

Thanks for sharing. I tried this, but unfortunately it didn’t work for me. I’m starting to think my issue might be GPU-related. When I launch it normally, I don’t even get a black screen. I only saw the black screen when launching with certain flags. Right now, --no-sandbox is the only flag that gets it to open.

Really appreciate you sharing this though. If you come across any other possible fixes, please do post them. I’d rather avoid using --no-sandbox long-term since it doesn’t seem like the safest option.

Hey, I genuinely understand how frustrating this gets. When you are already focused on work and the tool suddenly starts behaving unpredictably, it completely breaks the flow and becomes exhausting very quickly.

I spent some time analyzing the patterns behind your issue. Your logs were not fully detailed, so I cannot guarantee this is the exact root cause, but based on the crash behavior and current v2.0 regressions, this looks very likely related to a combined state corruption + zombie process issue.

:magnifying_glass_tilted_left: What is actually happening

From what I analyzed, this does not appear to be:

  • a GPU driver problem

  • a certificate issue

  • antivirus interference

  • or a normal Electron rendering crash

Instead, it looks like a convergence of two separate v2.0 regressions happening together.

1. Zombie background process on exit

When Antigravity closes, one of the child processes — usually related to language_server.exe — sometimes fails to terminate properly.

That leftover process continues holding locks on the local storage/session database in the background even after the main app is closed.

2. Corrupted session migration

The newer v2 architecture split parts of the IDE and Agent components into different storage structures. For some users, older workspace/session data appears to have migrated incorrectly, leaving partially unreadable local state.

When the application launches again:

  • the new instance attempts to initialize the native storage bridge

  • the zombie process still holds the database lock

  • the utility process cannot properly acquire the storage file

  • initialization fails before the renderer fully starts

That is why you see errors similar to:

No native storage bridge found during initialization

Why the behavior changes depending on launch flags

Normal launch

The initialization fails before the renderer window fully starts, so the app simply never appears.

Certificate / network flags

The network layer initializes first, allowing the window to appear, but the session state cannot load correctly, resulting in a black screen.

--no-sandbox

This bypasses the utility-process sandbox restrictions entirely, which is why the app suddenly launches.

However, this is not recommended long-term because it disables an important security boundary.

:white_check_mark: Recommended Fix (follow in order)

Step 1 — Kill all stuck processes and clear corrupted local state

Open PowerShell as Administrator and run:

This is important because zombie processes sometimes leave behind:

  • locked handles

  • named pipes

  • shared memory mappings

  • background utility states

A reboot ensures all of those are fully cleared.

Restart-Computer

Step 3 — Launch normally

After reboot:

  • start Antigravity normally

  • do NOT use any flags initially

  • allow the app to regenerate a fresh clean storage state

In many cases this resolves the issue completely.

:shield: If it still does not work

Instead of using --no-sandbox, try this safer launch option:

"C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Programs\Antigravity\Antigravity.exe" --disable-gpu-sandbox

This keeps the primary renderer sandbox enabled while relaxing only the GPU sandbox layer, which sometimes avoids native module loading conflicts without fully disabling security protections.

Try to avoid --no-sandbox unless absolutely necessary.

:folded_hands: If the issue still persists

Please share:

  • your Windows version (winver)

  • whether this is a managed/corporate device

  • and the contents of:

%APPDATA%\Antigravity\main.log

if that file exists.

That would help narrow down whether this is:

  • storage corruption

  • updater failure

  • utility-process crash

  • Electron sandbox conflict

  • or a deeper dependency issue.

Bummer, didn’t work for me, except when I used --ignore-certificate-errors, however I removed that, followed your steps to clean up and then tried to start again, but my blank screen persisted, then I also tried --disable-gpu-sandbox and it was the same. the log file below was created with using --disable-gpu-sandbox.

Thanks for sharing. I tried the solution you mentioned, but it didn’t work for me unfortunately. I’ll post my logs/details here as well in case it helps troubleshoot further.

I double clicked on it without any flags and it didn’t open.

“C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Programs\Antigravity\Antigravity.exe” --disable-gpu-sandbox - this opened a black screen
