Ai studio QuickStart doesn’t seem to match the interface - frustrating!

Screenshot attached at bottom - would love to attach another but it says new users can only attach one image.

I’m trying to do a Google class that requires me to use ai studio for a simple agent creation exercise, but it’s driving me nuts. The google AI Studio QuickStart says:

Chat will be pre-selected on the left side options menu. (It’s not even there much less selected and I can’t find it anywhere.)

Click the assignment icon at the top of the Chat Prompt window to expand the system instructions input field. (There is no such icon, but if you click the gear top right it will open the system instructions.)

  1. Paste the following into the text input field: You are an alien that lives on Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons. (I can only assume the text input field is the large box in the system instructions that says, “Optional tone and style instructions for the model”.)

After you’ve added the system instructions, start testing your application by chatting with the model. In the text input boxed labeled “type something” type in a question or observation that a user might make. For example: “What’s the weather like?” (There is no input box labeled “type something”.)

Next click the “run button”. (There is no such button.)

What am I missing? It’s probably something easy, but after hours of wasted time and useless research all over the net and Gemini and YouTube, I came up with nothing.

Hi @Lance_Barton

Thank you for pointing this out and apologies for the delay on the response

I am working internally to get that document page update to reflect what is been displayed in the UI

I wanted to check if you were able to use the chat feature to interact with the model ?
