AI Studio Build Mode: Deployment and GitHub integration issues

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some guidance from others using Google AI Studio Build Mode.

I’m working on a React/TypeScript application using:

  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Vite
  • PDF.js
  • pdf-lib
  • Web Workers
  • Client-side/local processing

The application itself builds and runs correctly inside AI Studio Build Mode.

However, I’ve been experiencing some issues with both deployment/publishing and GitHub integration, and I’m trying to determine whether these are configuration issues, known platform issues, or current limitations.

1. Publishing / deployment

AI Studio reports successful Publish/Republish operations, but the resulting deployment has behaved inconsistently.

I’ve encountered situations where:

  • A published deployment returned 404 when accessed externally.
  • Another development deployment redirected to an AI Studio security/cookie-check page instead of loading the application.
  • AI Studio reported a successful republish and updated the publication timestamp, but the externally accessible application appeared to still be running an older version.

I’d like to understand how developers can verify that an AI Studio deployment is actually connected to the expected Cloud Run service/revision and whether there is a recommended way to troubleshoot or refresh a deployment.

2. GitHub integration

I’ve also experienced difficulties with the AI Studio ↔ GitHub integration.

I’m interested in hearing from anyone who has successfully used the current GitHub integration for:

  • Importing an existing GitHub repository into AI Studio
  • Linking an AI Studio project to an existing repository
  • Pushing AI Studio changes to GitHub
  • Pulling changes from GitHub back into AI Studio
  • Handling conflicts between AI Studio and GitHub

In my experience, the GitHub workflow has not always behaved consistently, particularly around repository connection/import/push/pull operations.

3. Looking for guidance

Has anyone else recently experienced similar issues with either AI Studio publishing/deployment or GitHub integration?

Specifically, I’d appreciate pointers on:

  1. How to troubleshoot an AI Studio deployment that reports success but doesn’t behave correctly externally.
  2. How to verify the associated Cloud Run service/revision.
  3. Whether there are known issues with AI Studio deployment environments.
  4. Whether there are known/current issues with AI Studio’s GitHub integration.
  5. Whether there is a recommended workflow for maintaining GitHub as the reliable source of truth while continuing development in AI Studio.
  6. Whether these are known limitations/issues with the current Build Mode experience.

I’m deliberately not including application URLs, repository names, or product details because the project is still under development.

I’d appreciate any pointers from developers who have encountered similar behavior.
