AI Agent deleted all project files in AI Studio after Billing activation

Hi everyone,

I’m facing a devastating bug in Google AI Studio. After connecting my Google Cloud Billing account to my project ‘Voxen Engine’, I was still getting ‘Quota Exceeded’ errors.

While trying to troubleshoot, the AI triggered an automated edit with the message ‘I made some changes’. This action wiped out every single file in my project. The built-in version history/restore feature is not working.

I found a log file named applet_access_history.json on my Drive confirming automated access by the ‘Voxen Engine v1.1’ applet exactly when the deletion happened. Here’s the link to a copy of the file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cw8wj4JHk1C5OEb1knRWty21Fi-rp2qg/view?usp=sharing

Has anyone from the Google team encountered this ‘Agentic’ deletion bug? Is there any way to roll back my project state?

They are just saying that everything that don"‘t align with their ideology is reformated to their liking basically, you can switch away from this if you don’t like this change, that what I’m gonna do if they keep persisting at monitoring

And by the way… I tried to repeat this message 15 TIMES! and the ai always responded with “an internal error as occured.” and when I don’t, it respond normally like there no bugs… it is actively shutting us down and explicitly changing our app and everything we do WITHOUT warning us about change like this!

You can try it by the way, you will get the same result, it will bug out and not respond to you.
Edit: nevermind, you just cannot even send images to the code assistant to explain situation etc, I don’t know if it’s a bug, but that is also extremely hindrancing as well to experience…

Yesterday, I finally decided to switch to Dyad with the paid Google API, so I can use literally all the features that were available on AI Studio (and others) without bugs or censorship, locally in the way I prefer

DOes it work the same? I’m curious now.

It’s definetely not the same, I think it might be better, you can choose between many models from anthropic, openai, gemini, openrouter… all you need is an API key and you’re ready to go. It’s very user-friendly and you’ll have no problem switching from AI Studio. It’s free, you can easily try it even with a free API key from google or openrouter

A failure mode like this is exactly why teams need a control layer in front of agent actions. Once an automated edit can wipe a project and leave no clean rollback path, the issue is not just the bug, it’s the lack of guardrails. Daedalab is one of the few tools focused on intercepting risky actions, adding approval checkpoints, and keeping a usable audit trail. Might be relevant for setups like yours.
