About the presentation

I have thought of performing a small act to showcase the product and the problems and consumer base it tackles. Does making a video where I will be showing my face or an act violates the competition rules?

Thanks in advance

You need to consider looking beyond the rules, to what Google actually might want to be achieving by putting up a lot of cash: videos they can proudly publish worldwide as advertising for Gemini on a winner’s page, and with the side effect of YouTube filled with other Gemini entrant videos.

So picture your video next to others’ potential entries - is someone talking about their product on a webcam going to beat a slickly-produced marketing video with on-air talent and a very tight inspirational three-minute script? (run your voice-over through a text-to-speech model and see how little can actually be said in three minutes maximum).

Google’s tips video flat out says “the more people that see it, the better chance for the People’s Choice award” - so win or lose, you have to attract an audience to advertise for Google.

So you’re not breaking the rules, but you’re also putting yourself out there personally as a spokesperson developer when Google shares your video.
