Hello!!! Using Google AI Studio I created a few apps that analyze video and audio files. I am reaching out because I keep getting a 429 error even though I am using a paid tier AND my RPM, TPM and RPD limits are not even close to being met. Specifically today I haven’t even used the application and I got a 429 error right on the first usage of the day. Any help would be immensely appreciated!!
Unfortunately, I’ve been having the same problem for 3 days and there’s simply nowhere to ask for support for something we’re paying for.
Yes exactly!! I wasn’t having any issues until like 3-4 days ago. Don’t know who or how to reach out to get help but im currently in a chat with a billing customer service agent so I’ll see if this will go anywhere but im not hopeful…
Hey, so I just found out that Gemini 3.0 Pro is able to be used in the Google AI Studio apps. So I switched the underlying AI to Gemini 3.0 Pro and so far it seems to be working OK. It maybe possible that 3-4 days ago is when gemini 3.0 Pro became available for the apps so more people are using 2.5 pro because its cheaper and maybe too many people are using it. Im not really sure? When I contacted the billing support agent all they said was: 1). Wait and use it within 24 to 48 hours, 2). You may also use other models, 3).Lastly you may request limit increase
So basically it was no help at all like I was suspecting. Hopefully, switching to gemini 3.0 pro will stop these 429 errors from happening now.
I’m having the same problem!
Everything was working, and then suddenly it just stopped. Error 429 pops up even on the first use. It’s impossible to contact tech support.
I suspect it’s some kind of major glitch. Just a few days ago, they reduced the free key limits to 0.
Please, if you learn anything, write here!

“Resource has been exhausted (e.g. check quota).” Having this same issue for the past 3 days now, even though no issues previously for weeks prior. On a paid tier one, different gemini AI models that are all under each of the limits etc. Cant find anyway to increase quota (even though I do not believe that is the real cause) or resolve the issue!
Yes all of a sudden this started happening to me 3-4 days ago as well. Have you tried switching to gemini 3 pro? I switched and have now used all of my apps heavily and simultaneously and so far no errors. If you want to switch just put in the chat of the code assistant “Update the application to use gemini-3-pro-preview”
Don’t switch to Gemini-3.0-Pro! This model has the same problem! I am a Tier 1 paying user and have been using it since it launched. About 3 days ago, I also started getting frequent 429 errors. My project does not have high concurrency; I make a request every 2-3 minutes on average. After about 10 requests, it starts returning 429s, and I have to wait several hours for it to recover. I am unable to seek official technical support and have not found any solution so far. T T
UPDATE: Switching to Gemini 3.0 ended up starting to cause the same 429 error once I started using it pretty heavily to analyze videos. SMHHH
Hey All,
We’ve pushed a fix that should resolve the problem. Please let us know if you are still experiencing any issues.
Thanks for your patience while we sorted this out!
This might be a naive question, but from a system-design perspective:
how is a user supposed to distinguish between a genuine quota breach and a transient system-side limitation when both surface as 429 errors?
