403 PERMISSION_DENIED — Request for manual review and unlock

Hello Gemini API Team,

I am requesting a manual review and unlock of my Gemini API access on the Free Tier. My requests in VS Code are completely blocked with: “403 PERMISSION_DENIED: Your project has been denied access. Please contact support.”

This is a brand new personal account for learning/local coding with no previous usage or policy violations. There are no warning or appeal banners visible on my Google Cloud Console or AI Studio dashboards.

Project Details:

  • Account Type: Personal Google Account
  • Use Case: Local coding assistant in VS Code using the Continue extension
  • Error: 403 PERMISSION_DENIED

Could a team member please review my account status and restore API access? Thank you!

Getting a 403 API error response and / or seeing “Unavailable” next to your project in AI audio indicates a flag has been placed on your account. To proceed:

  1. Check for banners / error callouts in the AI Studio Projects page & the Billing page.

  2. If the issue isn’t clear from the above, contact Cloud Billing Support.
