Creativity of the 0605 is top tier. Best of all versions, and I’ve used them all since August last year.
Gemini Pro has come so far from a model I would barely consider to an LLM I only want to use. One where I needed a different LLM to kick off a story to one that is perfect beginning to end.
Even as a story grows in context, Gemini 0605 now just handles it superbly. It pushes forward. It is proactive. It’s smart.
The way it refers back to earlier story beats and makes things come full circle is exactly what I want for story writing.
0605 is a lot better about not echoing user input in its own responses and actually building on a story instead of needing to react to every point I make. This was a major pitfall of previous versions, and even when I tried to prompt it away, it just felt like those old versions were vibrating out of their skin trying to find a way to echo input. So a huge improvement there.
It does extremely well with writing a lengthy response that stays engaging the entire way through. This was one of my favorite things about 1206 that was lost in the later versions. LOVE that its back again. A model that can stay engaging without just adding fluff or purpling out the prose is excellent.
It follows most prompt instructions well, which is a noticeable upgrade to the previous versions, albeit subtle. Which is great, I tell it to not go heavy-handed on banter and comedy, and it actually goes another route. When given a strict format to adhere to, it does.
A bit more subjective of a pro, but it actually makes me laugh again.
Very creative with using HTML/CSS when given a story snippet and not much else for rules.
Has typical LLM quirks, but none too glaring, hardly just a Gemini problem.
Common phrase is “gesturing” with hands. And Gemini Pro really loves using ellipses (though it’s decreased in the June version). I can regex them away. But logit bias would be a nice feature for some of the “LLM-isms.”
More robust documentation for all Google models would be a big plus. A lot of people I talk to find the docs lacking.
Overall, well done. Appreciate the action on user feedback, especially giving some love to creative writing. It would be an easy corner to neglect. 10/10 version update in my book. Release this bad boy to my hands .
