Where should we turn to now?

Is Google providing a predictable service? Currently, the answer is a clear “No.”

Should users simply sit back, wait for stabilization, and bear the financial loss on their own? I chose to subscribe to the paid tier based on the advertisement that it would offer a superior experience compared to the free tier. However, without any reasonable notice or explanation, the service has effectively reverted to the level of the free tier.

Deceived users are now gathering in communities one by one, yet their frustration and sense of betrayal remain unaddressed. Google is currently choosing a path that leads to a significant loss of trust.

I am thinking of going for some open source options and just integrating LLMs of my choice.

Technically, Antigravity is just an app/fork for VS code, and we were locked into their agents. Now the community could just technically build a fork using electron and with some changes to extension APIs LSP, etc. we could just plug in our own LLMs.

With that set up Claude is actually half the price of ULTRA, so use that money for the API and even if you spent more it’s would be less restricted and better in the end.

Open Code is a great alternative to do exactly what you’ve described.

I’m playing with Cline. I like it.

Well I officially cancelled my pro plan today and I’m going to try DeepSeek-Coder locally with VSCode. I figure it can likely handle the light work that I request from it and my computer can easily handle it so we’ll see.
