When reverting to a previous version, clearing the context history presents a challenge: the AI retains the "undone" instructions

When I tried modifying the prompt and found that the new instructions didn’t work well, I chose to revert to the previous version. However, I found that the model still seemed to be influenced by the “incorrect instructions” I was trying to discard. Even when I explicitly asked the model in the conversation to “forget the previous instruction” or “ignore the previous modification,” subsequent new instructions were still tainted by those failed requests. Hello :waving_hand:

You should see a build number at the title ask to go back to a version you think it might be.

Pro tip: 1. when making your app ask it to place a build number counter and update build number every time you make a change in the top right of your app 2. Make a copy before you make changes. Nothing is perfect things can and will go wrong so always #2

Best of luck👍

Hi @syhy0612 , Apologies for the delayed response. Could you please confirm if you are still facing the same issue ?

Hi @Sonali_Kumari1 I have a similar experience of friction & confusion with the restore checkpoint.

Commented in older post here: Restore Checkpoint in App Builder - #7 by P.N

The code might reset but it seems the chat/context keeps going regardless of this and will continue to make changes & mistakes based on stuff your trying to get rid of.

And it isn’t immediately obvious that it’s doing this. And can turn into a lot of scrolling to find restore-checkpoint buttons because when you restore there’s a chat message but it doesn’t treat this new point in time as a checkpoint to easily reach.

Restore checkpoint either needs to

  • reset chat to that point as well.
  • or act as a branch
    • because I found I’d be trying it to get it fix things and refining my prompt but if everything hard reset i’d loose the text of the prompts for new features if I forget to copy them or get a summary out of the UI before a full reset.
  • or there needs to be a separate reset chat to here to go with code checkpoints NOT just the reset the entire conversation.

And copying an app also doesn’t branch the chat off from the restore checkpoint.

And if you reload the builder also seems to loose all info in the chat about restoring checkpoints. So if you did reload your stuck with the bad code to.
