Heyy, the same thing is happening with me, but I figured out why it’s happening, it’s only happening with Next.js projects, when we ask model to make some changes, it does that but the project automatically gets shifted to Vite from Next.js and deletes all the previous projects files, it happened with me almost 100+ times in my different nextjs projects. The react/vite projects are fine, it never happened with them atleast for me.
I can’t confirm if your assumtion is correct or not, regarding that being the cause. but , i can confirm that i only saw the problem on next.js apps , althoughi dot have vite react apps.

Thanks for bringing this issue to google team, I am also facing the same issue where AI can’t read any file except the package lock json file and ultimately removes everything else.
Like the other user said, this is happening to nextJS projects, I have other apps in react and not facing this.
I hope google finds this and rectifies it

I faced the same issue and when I clicked on the edit tool on the top right it somehow loaded the project, hope this helps.
i have the same issue.. imported a project from firebase studio and now every change i make deletes alle the files in the project.
I have the same issue, a remix of a project - is being deleted every time I’m trying to enable firebase - right after the project is enabled, all the files in the project are deleted, and the bot reply in two ways - either success your project is ready, just for me to find out there no files in the project anymore - or with “Im sorry, the system crashed and I lost all your files”, either way, my non firebase version has no issue, I can make changes, continue working on it - so I dont think it has anything to do with the project size unless adding firebase is too much for this environment.
I do not have any issues with gcloud or firebase - it did add the firestore rules, and started a new collection.
So before I take it to Claude maybe the Google team can fix it?
I have the same problem but I only noticed it while adding assets to my app after I added them they get deleted somehow and cant add assets to my app. I tried couple times like more then 5 tries it deleted them every single time. And the AI says that I deleted them. And chat logs show the same.
The same issue has just happened to me.

I was not able to find a resolution and decided to move the project to a different IDE.
Facing the exact same issue, migration from firebase studio to aistudio gets all oroject files deleted. I also have a different take on it. It’s not about firebase or next.js it’s about migration itself. I recently got to know we can make android apps. So i migrated my capacitor+web app (react only) into aistudio. And aistudio wiped the project entirely even if it had nothing to do with next.js. although it had links with firebase since it was hosted on firebase hosting. So either anything linked to firebase gets deleted or anything that’s imported into the environment gets deleted.
I’m going through the tedious job of copying codes and pasting in chat like create src/lob/data/AuthContext.tsx: {entire 400 line code pasted in chat}
So far the code base is intact and we haven’t integrated any next.js or firebase yet.
I’d like to know if there is an update on this issue. I migrated an app from Firebase studio and Publish does not work, then it decides to somehow corrupt my project by deleting tons of files.
same issue here my files got deleted like 10 times or even more then i get bored for retrying to get the files again and again it should be fixed
Facing the same issue, my project got deleted/json locked multiple times. Hoping for a solution. This is only the case in 1 specific project luckely enough.
