One of my Google Cloud projects has the Generative Language API (Gemini) showing status “Unavailable · Postpay” in the API dashboard. I have active users with an app using the API key that are impacted by this outage.
Details:
- Billing account is active and in good standing — no outstanding payments
- The Generative Language API is enabled in the project
- Creating a new API key in a different Google Cloud project works fine with the same Gemini models — confirming this is a project-level issue, not account-level
What I’ve tried:
- Verified billing is active
- Created a new key in a separate project (works), so the issue is isolated to this one project
Question:
Has anyone encountered “Unavailable · Postpay” on a project with active billing? Is there a way to resolve this, or does it require Google support intervention?
Any help appreciated.
Hi @Yazan_Siam,
It’s unclear whether this is:
- In AI Studio - in which case, could you share a screen shot of the issue in the dashboard?
- In Cloud / Vertex - if so, it’s fine to illicit help from others here, but you should consider speaking to your account manager if you have one.
See attached screenshot. The issue I have is with red box key. I’ve been using this key in a production app and was working fine but then it unexpectedly stopped working. I generated new key and rolled out update but existing users that have not updated my app are still impacted.
Hello @Yazan_Siam ,
This is very likely caused by an issue which is currently only visible in Google Cloud console. We’re working to move visibility of this into AI Studio.
To resolve this:
- Open the Cloud console & select your project
- You should see a banner which explains the issue / may allow you to appeal
