Urgent: Gemini API showing "Unavailable · Postpay" despite active billing

One of my Google Cloud projects has the Generative Language API (Gemini) showing status “Unavailable · Postpay” in the API dashboard. I have active users with an app using the API key that are impacted by this outage.

Details:

  • Billing account is active and in good standing — no outstanding payments
  • The Generative Language API is enabled in the project
  • Creating a new API key in a different Google Cloud project works fine with the same Gemini models — confirming this is a project-level issue, not account-level

What I’ve tried:

  • Verified billing is active
  • Created a new key in a separate project (works), so the issue is isolated to this one project

Question:
Has anyone encountered “Unavailable · Postpay” on a project with active billing? Is there a way to resolve this, or does it require Google support intervention?
