Unable to generate an AI studio API key (permission denied)

In https://aistudio.google.com/app/apikey
I click the ‘Create API Key’ button but get this warning

Failed to generate API key: permission denied.

It’s not clear what permission I should enable to get it to work. I have the same error in Safari and Chrome. I’m using my personal gmail account.

Which region you are currently based of?? Can you check once, you are in the available region here.
