Welcome to the forum. A good starting point is to use AI Studio to develop the system instructions and prompt that perform the task to your specifications. Then, generate code.
When using content types for which no direct support is provided in the API (PDF comes to mind), AI Studio will provide TODO style comments where code you write will perform that function. To stick with PDF, open-source libraries that extract text are available and might be adequate for you. Or you might need a combination text + image retriever from the PDF files.
