Republish Option Missing in Google AI Studio – Existing Mowlika App Still Live

Dear Google AI Studio Support Team,

I am facing an issue with the publishing functionality of my existing Mowlika e-commerce application developed in Google AI Studio.

Application details:

  • App name: Mowlika – Jewellery and Clothing

  • Existing public URL: https:// mowlika.ai.studio

  • Firebase project ID: mowlika-new

Issue description:

Previously, the Publish section in Google AI Studio displayed the Republish/Update option, allowing me to publish changes to my existing application. However, the option is no longer available.

When I click Publish, the application takes me through the initial publishing workflow, starting with the introduction screen and then the “Final touches” screen, where it asks me to configure the app URL. It proposes a URL different from my existing public URL.

My existing website, mowlika.ai.studio, is still accessible and functioning. However, I am unable to access the previous Republish/Update workflow.

Recent changes before the issue occurred:

  1. I upgraded my Firebase plan from Starter to Blaze.

  2. I modified the application code to upload product images directly to Firebase Storage instead of storing them as Base64 data in Firestore.

  3. After these changes, I noticed that the Republish/Update option was no longer available.

I am not certain whether these changes are related to the issue, but I would appreciate your assistance in investigating the cause.

I also checked the Cloud Run Services page in the Google Cloud project selected in my console, but no services were listed there.

Assistance required:

  1. Please investigate why Google AI Studio no longer recognises the existing publication and displays the initial publishing workflow instead of Republish/Update.

  2. Please help restore the ability to update the existing application through its previous publishing workflow.

  3. Please confirm whether the issue is related to the Firebase plan upgrade, Firebase Storage code changes, or the association between my AI Studio app and its existing deployment.

  4. Please advise how I can restore the publishing functionality without changing my existing public URL, creating an unnecessary duplicate deployment, or losing any application data.

I would like to retain my existing application, public URL, source code, Firebase configuration, Firestore records, customer orders, and Firebase Storage files. I do not want to unpublish or recreate the application unless absolutely necessary and explicitly advised by your support team.

Please investigate and guide me through the appropriate resolution.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,
Mowlika Application Owner

Hi @Parvathy_Prakash,

Thanks for flagging this! We’ve rolled out a fix for this issue. Please try the following steps:

  1. Hard refresh Google AI Studio (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows/Linux or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) and open your existing app.
  2. Open the Publish panel—it should now recognize your existing deployment and restore the Republish button and your existing URL.

If you’re still running into any issues after refreshing, please share your Applet ID (from your app URL https://aistudio.google.com/apps/drive/<APPLET_ID>) and a screenshot of the Publish panel so we can take a look.
