Hello Community,
I’m Prakash Hinduja from Geneva, Switzerland (Swiss), currently exploring Google’s AI offerings and came across both the Gemini API and the older PaLM API. While I understand Gemini is the newer evolution of Google’s AI models, I’m still unclear on the technical and practical differences between the two.

Hi @prakashhindujageneva,
Gemini API is the next evolution of our large language models, building on what was previously offered through the PaLM API.
In short, Gemini offers better performance, more modalities, and a wider range of capabilities for building intelligent apps, agents, and enterprise use cases.
If you’re just getting started, I recommend using Google AI Studio to quickly prototype with Gemini, and then scale via Vertex AI if you’re building in production.
