Possible false-positive input block on original, benign Nigerian Pidgin song

Summary

On October 17, 2026, our private music app received HTTP 400 from POST https://generativelanguage.googleapis.com/v1beta/interactions using model lyria-3.5. The original supplied lyrics describe a cheerful road trip, market, beach and friendship. We are requesting clarification of the content rejection, not a way to disable safety filters.

## Confirmed error

Google rejected the song request. (HTTP 400) Input blocked: The prompt could not be submitted. The prompt contains sensitive words that violate Google’s [Generative AI Prohibited Use policy]([provider link] Try rephrasing the prompt. No automatic retry was made. Check Google usage before approving another generation.

The confirmed rejected request began at 2026-10-17T20:04:34.018Z. This is our local timestamp, not a Google request ID. Two preceding failures used the same lyrics but their detailed provider responses were not retained. A previous shorter song returned audio successfully.

## Exact input

```text
Create one complete original song with vocals and instrumental arrangement.
Perform the supplied lyrics exactly, preserving names, spelling and language. Do not rewrite or translate them. Section labels are arrangement directions, not sung words.
Aim for about two minutes, fitting all supplied lyrics naturally. Include a short instrumental introduction and a short instrumental outro after the final sung word. Timing is a target.
Musical direction (user data): {“title”:“Untitled song”,“genre”:“Afrobeats”,“mood”:“Feel-good”,“songLanguage”:“English”,“lyricalStyle”:“Choose with Fuzz”,“direction”:“Contemporary Nigerian Afrobeats with a relaxed, syncopated groove, layered shakers, interlocking percussion, warm melodic bass and light guitar phrases. Melodic singing with natural Nigerian Pidgin phrasing. Give every supplied verse and the bridge room to finish; do not skip or rewrite lines to meet the duration target. Short intro, then an 8–12 second instrumental outro after the final chorus.”}
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Maya, morning don arrive
Sun dey shine, we feel alive
You bring popcorn for the ride
Windows down, you by my side
We no need to rush today
Let the small wahala fade
Every turn, another view
Every laugh, something brand new
[Chorus]
Make we go, make we flow
Anywhere the sweet breeze blow
Side by side, we take am slow
Na this kind joy I wan know
Maya, lift your hands up high
See the colour for the sky
If the road still carry on
We go turn am to our song
[Verse 2]
We miss turn near market square
Stop to ask one woman there
She just smile and point the way
Say the beach no far away
Your red slippers touch the sand
Cold drink sweating for your hand
You draw heart beside the sea
Then the water set am free
[Bridge]
If tomorrow bring the rain
We go find our joy again
No be money make this sweet
Na the people wey we meet
When the daylight starts to fade
I go keep the laugh we made
[Final Chorus]
Make we go, make we flow
Anywhere the sweet breeze blow
Side by side, we take am slow
Na this kind joy I wan know
Maya, lift your hands up high
See the colour for the sky
If the road still carry on
We go turn am to our song
[Instrumental Outro]
```

## Request format

POST /v1beta/interactions; JSON body contains model: lyria-3.5 and input: the text above. No custom safety settings, no automatic retries, no other generation configuration. Credentials and internal access tokens are intentionally omitted.

## Questions for Google

1. Which phrase, input component or safety category caused the rejection? Is this a false positive?

2. Is Nigerian Pidgin supported for supplied lyrics in this model, and can language recognition affect safety classification?

3. Does this HTTP 400 input-block outcome incur a generation charge? Where can we verify this per request?

4. Is a request/support identifier or structured safety diagnostic available for Interactions/Lyria input blocks?

5. What is the recommended user-facing recovery flow for benign content blocked this way?

## Controlled test results

Four controlled requests were made, once each, with no automatic retries.

| Test | HTTP | Result |

| — | — | — |

| A-prior-lyrics-new-direction | 200 | audio-returned |

| B-first-half-simple-direction | 400 | rejected |

| C-second-half-simple-direction | 200 | audio-returned |

| D-first-verse-only | 200 | audio-returned |

Interpretation: A shows the new full musical direction can succeed with the previous short lyrics. B (opening verse plus chorus) was blocked. C (second verse, bridge, repeated chorus and outro) returned audio. D (opening verse alone) returned audio. Therefore a single consistently forbidden word has NOT been identified. All lyric sections occurred in at least one successful request, under different combinations/directions. Context-dependent or nondeterministic filtering is a hypothesis, not an established cause. These are single observations, not repeatability proof.

Three requests returned audio; one was blocked. Published-rate arithmetic is US$0.24 for the three returned songs, up to US$0.32 for all four if the blocked request is also billed. Actual charges are unverified. Diagnostic audio remains private on the test computer and has not been evaluated for musical quality.

No further requests were made after the four-request cap.

Lyrics:

she enter kitchen and she start to yarn,

her melody dey sweet pass any song,

from bathroom mirror go motor road,

sister wey carry pure gold.

we dey chase sunset as we dey drive,

thirty-two years and she come alive,

kitchen and road, na she be the queen,

best sister wey my eyes don ever see.
