I tried adding rules to my agent.md to force the model to always show its step-by-step thinking, but it only works for the first few turns. After that, it simply stops showing it, and I have to keep reminding it manually in the chat, which is pretty annoying.
- Is there any setting or flag to make the Thought section expanded by default? Having to manually click and open it after every search and file analysis really slows down my workflow. If it’s already possible via some config, please let me know!

No, it is currently not possible to keep the “Thought” dropdown expanded by default in Antigravity.
When you add rules to agent.md asking the model to show its step-by-step reasoning, you are instructing the model to print its thoughts directly into the standard chat output rather than controlling the UI’s dropdown behavior.
The reason it stops doing this after a few turns is due to context window and attention drift —as the conversation history grows, earlier system instructions can get deprioritized by the model. Starting a fresh chat session periodically helps refresh this behavior.
