No Google Search for 2.0 Flash Lite?

I noticed that Grounding with Google Search is not available for gemini-2.0-flash-lite and thought it was odd since even the 1.5-flash-8b model has a google search tool. Are there plans to change this in the future?
gemini-2.0-flash-lite a no brainier upgrade for anyone using 1.5-flash but the lack of this feature breaks my usecase.

As confirmed in the documentation, the Google Search grounding feature is available for the following models:

  • Gemini 2.5 Pro
  • Gemini 2.5 Flash
  • Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite
  • Gemini 2.0 Flash
  • Gemini 1.5 Pro
  • Gemini 1.5 Flash
