Gemini API Documentation specifies that:
“To specify an experimental version, use the following pattern: <model>-<generation>-<variation>-<version>
. For example, gemini-1.5-pro-exp-0827
.”
Yet, new experimental model is named ‘gemini-exp-1114’. Shouldn’t the generation be specified?
Welcome to the forum. As of today, the operation list_models
returns the following experimental models:
models/gemini-1.5-pro-exp-0801
models/gemini-1.5-pro-exp-0827
models/gemini-1.5-flash-exp-0827
models/gemini-1.5-flash-8b-exp-0827
models/gemini-1.5-flash-8b-exp-0924
The oddly named gemini-exp-1114
doesn’t show up in list_models
. Pure speculation: it is supposed to be what will eventually be branded as Gemini 2, and the project managers didn’t want to generate unruly enthusiasm about this experimental model. Therefore truncated the version number from the name. Or, someone made a typo.
