Multi-turn and conversation history

Greetings all. First post. At this url Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking  |  Gemini API  |  Google AI for Developers I read:

During multi-turn conversations, you pass the entire conversation history as input, so the model has no access to its previous thoughts in a multi-turn conversation.

Excuse me? Aren’t the ‘previous thoughts’ in the conversation history input?
