I have paid for Pro for a long time. I am still a Pro subscriber today. But right now, I can’t use Argon, and I’m very annoyed about why. You just announced that “paid” Pro users would get Argon. I expected to have it. I don’t.
The reason is my new Pixel 11 Pro. It came with 6 months of AI Pro for free. My account didn’t stop being paid. My billing is simply paused, and it starts again when the 6 months end. I never cancelled. I never downgraded. Nobody told me that taking this offer would turn me into a second-class user. So I’m being punished for buying a Google Pixel. A phone perk that was meant to reward me has taken features away from me.
I’m not asking for anything extra. I just want the Pro plan I’ve always had. Can someone from Google please explain what’s happening and when it will be fixed?
I find it quiet funny, google is segregating users on the same ‘tier’. I mean, sure they might think that promotions for ai pro cost them too much, but then, WHY should we care? Honestly, antigravity is bad(average), google models are constantly behind the flock, and it cost the same as gpt or anth. Not to mention the pro plan is not giving api access so people are forced to agy. I mean it kindof was acceptable with promotions, not worth the full price. Limiting agon to ultra was bad action, tiering the same tier is another bad action.
Do you really think people will pay for Argon at this point?
Because for me is a clear sign that I should step away.
To explain why this happens and how you can restore access to Gemini 4 Argon:
Why the Device Promotion Changed Your Model Access: Trial plans, device promotions (such as a Pixel promotional offer), and partner benefits are classified as promotional plans (Google AI Pro (Trial)). On our Models page, Gemini 4 Argon (in the Antigravity App, Antigravity CLI, and IDE extensions) as well as Claude Sonnet 5.5 (thinking) and Claude Opus 5.5 (thinking) are available on Google AI Pro for non-trial subscriptions only, while promotional plans include full access to Gemini 3.8 Flash with higher rate limits (plus Claude Sonnet 4.6 (thinking), Claude Opus 4.6 (thinking), and GPT-OSS-120b through November 2, 2026).
How to Switch Back to a Paid Plan to Access Gemini 4 Argon: On our FAQ — How do I upgrade to a paid Google AI plan? and Models pages, if you would like to switch from a trial or promotional period to a paid Google AI Pro subscription immediately to access Gemini 4 Argon and Claude 5.5, you can submit an upgrade request.
Please let us know if you need any further information.
So by submit an upgrade request you mean give up the 6 months of Google AI Pro subscription you offered me as an incentive to purchase a Google Pixel Phone and start paying for that subscription instead? Even though at the time you gave no indication that this Google AI Pro was not the exact same Google AI Pro I was previously paying for. Even now if I go into my account there is no indication that I’m on any different plan.
Just to clarify my model access didn’t change when I added the Device Promotion, I had exactly the same access as I did prior. My account did and still does show as a Google AI Pro account. There is no mention of Trail any where on the account.
What changed is when you released this new model, you took the decision to segregate Pro users into two sections. As a “trail” of Google AI Pro this Google AI Pro is really bad…
(Note when I say you I mean Google and not you personally, fairly sure your not the person making these decisions)
This is absurd, same thing happened to me, I was offered Pro for being a student , I unfortunately fell into the trap; as I am not allowed to use “Argon” now simply for belonging to that category. However , I have been paying for pro for years before being offered that promotion, this is quite insulting.
This model segregation between the same “plans” literally did not exist when I bought my Pixel.
Additionally, the Pixel promo stated it was worth ~$250 (the same price for paying 12 months of Pro). However, it’s pretty clear that it is not worth that much.
Thank you for flagging this and sharing the details of your experience. We completely understand how frustrating it is to lose access to Gemini 4 Argon after redeeming the Google AI Pro promotional offer included with your Pixel device.
Why this is happening:
When the Pixel promotional offer was redeemed, your subscription transitioned into a promotional trial period while your regular paid billing is paused. Currently, Frontier Model access (including Gemini 4 Argon) in Google Antigravity requires an active paid billing cycle, so accounts in a promotional or trial period are not recognized as eligible even if they had a prior paid subscription history.
What we are doing about it:
Our engineering team is aware of this issue affecting Google AI Pro subscribers on device promotional offers and is actively working on a backend fix to address eligibility for these accounts. We will share an update on this thread as soon as the fix is live in production.
This is worded heavliy as if this trial-model-segregation was unintentional and a billing/entitlement bug. However, the Antigravity models documentation still show Trial accounts without Argon purposefully.
Then, are these new changes:
a change in policy, as Google did heavily mention and document Trial Pro users getting restricted model access,
applicable to all Pro Trial users, or just Pixel device promotion trial users, and
when will this update/fix be live in production? Is the timeline in the magnitude of days, or weeks?
Hi! I’m another of those with the complimentary offer blocking my paid AI Pro access. Before I heard about your engineering team working to rectify the situation I took the step of cancelling my AI Pro suscription, intending to renew it once the complementary offer was deleted. It turns out the situation is more complicated, and my account is in an intermediate state. I’m concerned that may exempt me from whatever fix your engineers develop!
To clarify my current state, I discovered that I would have to completely cancel my Google One subscription to delete the complementary offer, and then renew Google One. Completely cancelling presents the apparently unlikely but still very daunting prospect of losing all my storage above the free 15 GB. While that’s unlikely, I’ve deferred doing that until I have a full Takeout copy of everything. After a full day that’s still pending completion. Meanwhile my account still shows as having Google One with AI Pro, but I still don’t have access to Gemini 4 Argon in Antigravity (because I still have the complimentary offer), and I’m concerned that my bizarre in-between state (cancelled but still active Google One) will disqualify me from whatever fix is arranged.
While I would prefer to get the benefit of the trial offer plus Antigravity access to Argon, I’m willing to lose the cost savings of the trial offer in favor of Argon access. I also see no way to cancel my Google One cancellation, and in fact, no evidence of the cancellation (though I hit the button several times). Aargh.
The backend update that @rody mentioned in Post #11 is now live in production for @James_Lunardi and other Pixel promotional offer subscribers, and our official Choose a model documentation has been updated to reflect this policy: Gemini 4 Argon (†) is now documented as “Available with paid Google AI Pro plans or on trial with eligible premium devices.”
This entitlement update applies specifically to Google AI Pro trials bundled with eligible premium devices (such as the Pixel 11 Pro promotional offer) for Gemini 4 Argon (†). Claude Sonnet 5.5 (thinking) and Claude Opus 5.5 (thinking) (**) remain available on Google AI Pro for non-trial subscriptions only (Choose a model), and non-device promotional or student trials are not part of the eligible premium device tier.
Regarding your account state and best course of action:
Please do not delete your Google One account or worry about losing your storage above 15 GB. Even if you clicked cancel on future auto-renewal, your account remains an active Google AI Pro device-trial membership through the end of the promotional period, which does not disqualify you from the eligible premium device entitlement for Gemini 4 Argon. To verify or restore your renewal state without interrupting your storage, you can check your membership settings on Google One or reach out to Google One Support (How do I upgrade to a paid Google AI plan?).
To pick up the live Gemini 4 Argon entitlement on your Pixel promotional plan now, update to the latest release—Antigravity App v2.28.1, Antigravity IDE v2.6.0, or Antigravity CLI v1.4.0 (Download, Changelog)—purge any pre-fix authentication profile stored in your OS keyring by running /logout in the CLI prompt box (Managing your session (logging out)), and sign back in with your personal Google Account (Personal Google Account). If **Gemini 4 Argon** still shows as unavailable after that, please contact [Google One Support](https://one.google.com/support) or reply here with a screenshot of your **Settings → Models & Usage** screen so we can look into it further.
