Just started tutorial. Convolutional layer modification

I may be getting ahead of myself, but I just started the tuitorial. I modified the code to use a convolutional layer, and got much better accuracy and loss. Below is the modified code:

# TensorFlow and tf.keras
import tensorflow as tf
import sys

# Helper libraries
import numpy as np
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

print(tf.__version__)

def bold(type): sys.stdout.write("\033[1m" + type + "\033[0m")
bold("\nConvolutional Model\n")
fashion_mnist = tf.keras.datasets.fashion_mnist
(train_images, train_labels), (test_images, test_labels) = fashion_mnist.load_data()

class_names = ['T-shirt/top', 'Trouser', 'Pullover', 'Dress', 'Coat',
               'Sandal', 'Shirt', 'Sneaker', 'Bag', 'Ankle boot']

plt.figure()
plt.imshow(train_images[0])
plt.colorbar()
plt.grid(False)
plt.show()

train_images = train_images[..., np.newaxis] / 255.0  # Add a channel dimension
test_images = test_images[..., np.newaxis] / 255.0  # Add a channel dimension

plt.figure(figsize=(10,10))
for i in range(25):
    plt.subplot(5,5,i+1)
    plt.xticks([])
    plt.yticks([])
    plt.grid(False)
    plt.imshow(train_images[i], cmap=plt.cm.binary)
    plt.xlabel(class_names[train_labels[i]])
plt.show()

model = tf.keras.Sequential([
    tf.keras.layers.Input(shape=(28, 28, 1)), # Input layer specifying the shape with channel
    tf.keras.layers.Conv2D(32, (3, 3), activation='relu'),
    tf.keras.layers.MaxPooling2D((2, 2)),
    tf.keras.layers.Flatten(),
    tf.keras.layers.Dense(128, activation='relu'),
    tf.keras.layers.Dense(10)

              loss=tf.keras.losses.SparseCategoricalCrossentropy(from_logits=True),
