I cannot change the Pace in the TTS Director's Note Speaker Setting

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a UI/UX bug with the new Gemini 3.1 Flash TTS Preview in Google AI Studio where the voice pacing control is broken upon opening the panel.

The Problem:
When opening the Speaker Settings sidebar, the “Pacing” selection under the Director’s Note section automatically initializes on “The Drift”. Clicking on a different setting does nothing. I’ve selected “Natrual” before, but now the setting doesn’t change to anything else.

What I’ve Tried:

  • Attempting to click and change the selection immediately upon loading a fresh voice workspace.
  • Overriding the pacing instructions manually using inline text narrative tags and the “Sample Context” box, but the model still follows “The Drift” preset rule.
  • Clearing browser cache and trying a hard reload (Ctrl + F5), but it still initializes with the dropdown completely frozen on this option.

It looks like the dropdown state payload for the Director’s note is broken or failing to register click/selection events on initial render. Is anyone else locked out of changing the pacing from “The Drift” on load? Hopefully, the engineering team can roll out a quick interface fix!

Wow. I posted right after you, having not seen this post. Can confirm it’s happening to me too, with both Pace and Accent (Gemini 3.1 Flash TTS Preview - Unable to change Pace or Accent)
