For weeks, I have provided undeniable technical proof that Google AI Studio’s “Delete” button is a complete visual illusion. When you empty your Drive trash and the UI tells you “there is no such prompt,” it is lying to your face.
In reality, the prompt is NEVER deleted from Google’s servers. The JSON file in your Drive is just a UI pointer. The actual data stays on their backend forever. Google’s own developer (Lalit_Kumar) confirmed in 2025 that losing the JSON metadata just means the interface “doesn’t recognize” the chat anymore—but the prompt continues to live on their servers.
