Google claims on the UI that your prompts will be permanently deleted after 30 days. This is a flat-out lie. They even recently renamed the button from “Delete prompt” to “Move prompt to trash” as a desperate legal cover-up. But the scam remains the same.
The reality is that the JSON file in your Drive is just a key. When you empty the trash, Google merely hides the key from your sight. The house – meaning your actual prompt data and full chat history – remains completely intact, down to the last character, on Google’s backend servers.
Google’s engineers never anticipated anyone running the official Google Drive File Recovery Tool. By recovering the deleted JSON key, it instantly unlocks the backend data that was never actually deleted, and the prompt session resumes as if nothing happened.
This is the smoking gun proof that Google intentionally retains our data in the backend while deceiving users, a massive violation of GDPR. They got busted by their own automated recovery tool!
