Recently, the quality and performance of Gemini models seem to have significantly degraded. I was working on a project that was nearly finished, with only a few minor bugs left to fix. After my quota renewed, I decided to continue working, but it turned into a total disaster.
Gemini completely ruined my project to the point where it stopped working entirely. It deleted 40% of my main.cpp file and altered my code so drastically that it became unrunnable. Furthermore, it completely lost track of the project context and parameters. Even though I created a dedicated “reminder” file to re-feed the project specifications, it didn’t help. Gemini kept forgetting what it had done just an hour prior.
In practice, my efforts to progress only resulted in burning through my entire weekly quota in a single day. The project broke completely, and I had to restore the last working backup, effectively putting me back at square one. Now, I have to wait another 3 days for my weekly limit to reset.
I contacted customer support and provided all available evidence, expecting actual assistance. After 2 days of silence, I received completely useless boilerplate responses like “have you tried logging out and back in?”.
Since I have no choice but to wait 2 more days for my quota renewal, it begs the question: who benefits from this kind of support? What is the point of having a formal support system if it only exists to simulate help?
I feel completely cheated. Because of this unpredictability and instability surrounding Gemini, I have no intention of upgrading from my monthly subscription to an annual one. To keep things fair, I have decided on the following approach: I will log every single day Gemini fails to perform adequately, and I will delay my next subscription payment by that exact number of days. I believe this is a fair trade-off as long as the official support remains non-functional.
