I tell Gemini Ultra not to do something and it does it. It breaks my project constantly.
I never know when I’m about to run out of time.
It is very irritating with how this is going.
No support it is like google don’t give a damn about their customers.
Reports of this are everywhere. But nothing changes.
I’m ready to give up.
Hi @Roy_Metzger ,
Welcome to the community! I hear you, it can be frustrating when there is no live usage meter to keep an eye on to figure out when usage will be restricted after hitting your limit. To be clear, it should never cut you off without notice. It usually warns you before actually restricting usage when you get close to hitting your limit. Keep an eye out for a warning before this happens. In regard to telling Gemini not to do something, and it doesn’t listen - I suggest going over the tips below for better prompting and overall usage of models for tasks:
-
Try using different models for different tasks. Some models work better than others depending on what you’re trying to accomplish. You can switch the active model by clicking the gear icon in the top-right corner to open Advanced settings. From there, try toggling between Flash and Pro in the “Select model to use in Chat” dropdown to see if a different model follows your constraints better.
-
Instead of telling Gemini not to do something, Try telling it what it needs to do. For example, instead of saying “Don’t change the menu design and add a new contact button” try saying “Add a new contact button to the menu”. If you notice it changes something you didn’t want changed, try prompting with “Change nothing else” after your initial request.
-
AI tends to get confused when chats get really long. I try to start a new chat when I begin working on a different part of my app or codebase.
I also noticed you said you need help contacting Google support but you might not know how. You can always reach out to them using this page when needed.
I hope that helps!
