Gemini code assitstant in vscode works very slowly

I’ve been using Gemini code assistant in vscode for the last few days and I feel like it works very slowly compared to my experience with Github copilot. Even when choose fast models like the flash models, it takes a lot of time for the code assistant to respond. Is this a known issue?
