Hi, good morning and greetings from Brazil!
I’m currently and under grad in a university in Brazil, and this year is my graduation year. Each college course is given a course conclusion research paper in order to graduate, and I decided to explore researching how Gemini would behave as an art director.
The thing is, I only wish for Gemini to give me text feedbacks, and not generate any images. I’ve prompted that specifically, 2 or 3 times. It comprehended the prompt, but generated images anyway.
What I’m wondering is, how do I make it so that it doesn’t generate any images? Is there a specific function that I can deactivate or anything like that?
Please help!
Only image generation models can generate images (like nano banana [gemini-3-pro-image-preview] or imagen).
Other models should not be generating images. Let me know if you still have questions.

Right, it is the nano banana that is generating the images. But the thing is, I specifically prompted to Gemini to not use generated images in our conversations.
Unfortunatelly I cannot share the conversation with him, cause it contains images, and apparently it is prohibited due to some directives.
The images in question are illustrations that I myself drew in order to further progress with the research with Gemini as my art director.
I’m curious, is there a way to make it so that Gemini does not use Nano Banana to generate images in a specific conversation?
I tried explicitly telling it to not generate it, and also used the Instructions option, but it is not working.
I’m asking this because this research involves me designing a character, and I didn’t want to polute my visual library with generated images, only use Gemini as an analytic and descriptive feedback tool (as an Art Director for a AAA game studio).
