Gemini API has problems distinguishing 0 and O in attached PDF Documents

In some cases, if I attach a PDF document to a Gemini / Gemma API call (you can test it via AI Studio), the O will be mistaken for 0.

I have tried several prompts and models, and all those that fall under the purview of AI Studio will be affected by this, possibly because they all share the same PDF rendering layer.
The same document and prompt do not seem to have this issue in Vertex AI.

Sample prompt:

  • What is the Unique Market Reference?
    The response will be B0999HN0131810 (ending with zero). It should be B0999HN013181O (ending with O).
