Google AI Studio shows “Project quota tier unavailable” for my project.

The project has API keys, but Gemini API generation is unavailable.

Phone verification and 2-Step Verification have been completed.

I would like to use the Free Tier.

Please review the project/account access and restore Free Tier access if possible.

No API key is included in this post.

Seeing “Unavailable” for your project quota tier or receiving 403 errors typically indicates an automated account flag or an incomplete verification requirement on the Free Tier. Since you’ve already completed phone and 2SV, please check the remaining steps below:

  1. Complete Google Account Age Verification:
  2. Check Model Availability on the Free Tier:
    • Make sure the specific model you are querying is accessible on the Free Tier. You can verify available quotas and limits on the AI Studio Rate Limit Dashboard.
  3. Generate a New API Key:
    • After verifying your age details, try generating a brand-new API key directly in Google AI Studio rather than reusing an existing key.

If completing these steps still does not restore access (or if using a model requiring a paid tier), you might want to consider adding prepayment credits directly in Google AI Studio and/ or attaching a Google Cloud Billing account in the Google Cloud Console. Please note this will mean you lose your free tier quota.
