Gemini API 403 PERMISSION_DENIED - Project denied access

Hello,

I am unable to use the Gemini API. Every API request returns:

403 PERMISSION_DENIED
“Your project has been denied access. Please contact support.”

My Google account has phone verification and 2-Step Verification enabled.

I created a new Google AI Studio project and generated a new API key, but the new project also became Restricted and returns the same 403 error.

I have confirmed that both of my Gemini API projects are currently showing Restricted status in Google AI Studio.

Project IDs:

  • gen-lang-client-05212291..
  • gen-lang-client-02785150..

I have not shared my API keys publicly.

Could you please review my account/project access and let me know why access to the Gemini API has been denied?

I would like to continue using the Free Tier without enabling billing, if my account is eligible.

Please try the below steps:

  1. Check Model Availability & Rate Limits:

    • Ensure that the model you are requesting is available on your current plan. For example, not all models are available on the free tier. You can verify model availability, quotas, and limits on the AI Studio Rate Limit dashboard.

  2. Verify your Google Account:

  3. Upgrade to a Paid Tier:

    • If verifying your account does not restore access (or if using a model requiring a paid tier), you can unlock access by adding prepayment credits directly in Google AI Studio or attaching a Google Cloud Billing account in the Google Cloud Console.
