I currently subscribe to Google AI Plus and also use Codex, but as an individual developer, my budget is limited and I cannot justify upgrading to AI Pro at this time.
I would really like to evaluate Gemini 3.8 Flash in real Agent/API development workflows. However, the free tier limit of 20 RPD is very restrictive. With iterative testing, agent tool calls, retries, and model comparisons, 20 requests can be exhausted very quickly, making it difficult to properly evaluate whether Gemini 3.8 Flash is worth adopting.
In comparison, Flash-Lite’s 500 RPD makes practical experimentation much easier.
I hope Google could consider increasing the free-tier limit for Gemini 3.8 Flash. Even 100–200 RPD would make it much easier for individual developers to properly test the model before deciding whether to adopt it for paid API usage.
