Pricing hasn’t been announced yet. However, the improved performance of Gemini 2.0 Flash over 1.5 Flash, suggests that the price should be around the same for base operations.

I really hope so. I mean we’re expecting continued improvements in quality at a cheaper price so yeah.

Until pricing is announced, do you think this is a try-it-out-and-see-how-much-I-get-charged situation?

Welcome to the forum. While trying it out, you only have the free option. That means your direct monetary cost incurred is zero and you lose property rights on all information transmitted to the model while on the free tier.
If you only use publicly available information while trying it out, it quite literally only costs you the time you put in to test it. So why not try it out?
